In statistics, a correlation is a mathematical relationship between two different variables. Its primary use is to determine how likely there is an equation which can be used to predict what the response variable will be when we change the explanatory variable. The more likely there is an equation which predicts how changing the explanatory variable will affect the response variable the stronger the correlation is.
